Creating a habitat for a crocodile
We created a habitat for a crocodile using natural objects we found outside on the school field. We used stones, mud, sticks, pine cones, acorns, conkers, leaves, twigs, wood, tree bark, water from puddles and grass to build a habitat that would be suitable for a crocodile. We made sure we thought carefully about what a crocodile's habitat would need in order for them to live and survive in the wild.
Today we went on a spontaneous walk to Knowl Hill common after seeing some snow fall. We were fortunate enough to have some snow settle on the ground of the common, so we were able to discover what it looked like, how it felt and what sound it made as we stepped on it.

Trip to Waltham Place Farm
Last week we went on our school trip to Waltham Place farm and had a wonderful time! We had the opportunity to help the farmer plant spelt seeds by hand, mill our own flour and collect acorns to feed to the pigs. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
Creating our own farm maps
Today we used Ipads, books, photos and Google Earth to look at different maps of farms in the UK. After we had gathered enough research, we went outside and used natural objects from the school field to create our own map of a farm.
Today we went apple picking! Richard who is a member of Knowl Hill Village Association invited Year 1 and 2 to harvest the apples in his orchard. We had a wonderful time picking apples, sorting them into their different varieties and tasting them!

Number scavenger hunt
Today we went on a scavenger hunt! We had to find 5 blades of grass, 4 leaves, 3 sticks, 2 stones and 1 daisy. Once we had found all of the objects we had to order them from smallest to largest, as well as write the numeral for the number of objects there were in each group.
