Year 4 Weekly Overview 

Maths

This week, our topic has been Place Value. We learnt how to round numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000 and completed our end of unit assessment. 

English

This week, we started our next writing unit based on writing a thank-you letter to the Verulamium. We created a memory map of our trip, learnt about commas in a list, thought about ideas to include in our letter and learnt when to use 'a' or 'an' as a determiner. 

Guided Reading 

This week, we continued reading our book 'Escape from Pompeii'. We learnt about being actors, focused on the eruption of Pomeii and looked at effective and unknown vocabulary. 

Topic

Our topic this week was Geography. We learnt about how earthquakes occur, looked at the 2011 Christchurch earthquake in more detail and looked into government policies.
