Please remember to check our class website each week for updates on what your child has been learning. The photo gallery is also a great place to see snapshots of their learning in action.
You’ll also find all the important dates for the Autumn term listed under the Important Dates tab. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email the school office.
Many thanks,

School Car Park![]()
A gentle reminder to parents and carers that the school car park is reserved for authorised staff and visitors who have received prior permission from Mrs Bourner. To help keep our pupils safe and ensure traffic moves smoothly during our busy drop-off and collection times, we kindly ask that you do not park in the school car park without permission. We really appreciate your cooperation and support in helping us maintain a safe and well-organised environment for everyone. Please make use of the kiss and drop facilities across the road. Thank you for your understanding and continued support!
Our value this term:
Generosity
Our learning this week:
English
In English, we finished writing our diary entry from the point of view of Rose Blanche. The children really impressed me with their use of emotive vocabulary and grammar features such as expanded noun phrases and commas. On Thursday, we published our diary entries, taking care of our handwriting and presentation.
Maths
In Maths, we began a new unit on addition and subtraction. To begin the week, we focused on mental maths strategies, such as using known number bonds and partitioning numbers to add and subtract. We then refreshed our knowledge of column addition and subtraction at the end of the week.
Science
In Science, we continued exploring forces and this week learnt about friction, air resistance and water resistance. We explored air resistance by thinking about the forces acting on a person when they are running and completed an experiment to see how different materials affect the drag experienced when running. We had lots of fun racing each other on the field whilst wearing contraptions made to slow each other down.
Guided Reading
In guided reading, we continued to read the book 'Goodnight, Mister Tom'. We have met lots of new characters and learnt lots of vocabulary to implement in our writing. We have enjoyed making links between the scenes in the book and our own history learning (such as William and Zac building the Anderson shelter!).
The Big Picture
In our topic lessons this week, we started our Design and Technology unit where we will be making Woolton Pies. We learnt to make a simple, shortcrust pastry using flour, margarine and water. We also designed our Woolton Pies and decided on the different vegetables we will include in our recipe.
RE
In RE, we began to think about our Big Question concerning religious and scientific views of the start of the world. We learnt about the Christian creation story and thought about we interpret the story in a literal or poetic way.
Physical Education
In PE, we will be focusing on football skills this half-term.
