Our learning this week

Monday 1st July- Friday 5th July

English

This week the children have continued to focus on the story of 'The Night Gardener' by The Fan Brothers, where the children have started to use their plans to write diary entries, as if they were the main character William and including information about how they feel about their creations.

Maths

Year 1

The children have concluded their learning on the mathematical topic of time this week, where they have been learning about days of the week, months of the year and how to tell the time using o'clock and half past.  In addition to this, the children have also been practising their 2x, 5x and 10x tables.

Year 2

The children have concluded their learning of the mathematical topic of position and direction this week- where the children have used mathematical language such as clockwise, anticlockwise, above, below, and in between and learning how to count the number of spaces moved to get to another place when giving directions. As well as, completing their assessment for this unit and practising the 2x, 3x, 5x and 10x tables.

Art

The children have concluded their art unit this week, where they have been using sticks to create their very own stick man. The children have also used wool and other fabrics to add the uniform/clothing to the person from the community they have chosen to base their stick man on. The children have enjoyed adding the finishing touches to their stick man such as facial features, hair and props relating to their jobs.

RE

This week the children have continued their learning all about the religion of Judaism, where they created posters to show the golden rule. In Judaism golden rule is often expressed as ‘What is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbour’ (Hillel, Talmud Shabbat 31a) and for Christians it is often summed up as 'Do to others as you would have them do to you’ Matthew 7:12 or ‘Love your neighbour as yourself’ (Luke 10:27).
