Our emotional well being champions are:
In January we attended an Emotional Well Being Training day. We explored ways to manage different emotions as well as discussing how to support others without taking on the role of the adult. We did this through watching and commenting on different role play scenarios, looking at different situations that happen in the playground and discussing with their friends how they could resolve issues. We then enjoyed coming up with ideas that schools could implement to support children, for example, mindfulness afternoons on a Friday, a safe place at lunch time to ‘chill out’ and calm down if we needed space to process friendship difficulties or just to decompress from our mornings! This included activities like breathing, yoga and colouring.
When we came back to school we delivered an assembly including a video with staff giving examples of what causes them to feel stress, what that may feel like in their body and how they manage that. We are looking forward to helping other children at school and supporting each other's mental health and emotional well being.
