Morning Snack Reminder

A gentle reminder that children’s morning snacks should be healthy snacks only. Please do not send chocolate, cakes, sweets, or crisps for morning snack time.

Fruit snacks are provided for all KS1 children each day.

Thank you for your support.

* Important notice*

We would like to kindly remind parents that the school car park is reserved for authorised staff and visitors who have received prior permission from Mrs Bourner. We have had a number of near misses recently caused by cars pulling into the entrance of the school car park to drop off and then pulling out again onto the A4. The A4 is a very busy road, it is important to set a good example to the children so please park sensibly and walk over the footbridge. There is plenty of parking at the village hall and it is only a short 1-2 minute walk from kiss and drop. Thank you.

Year 2 Weekly Update

Year 2 Weekly News

What a fantastic week of learning we have had in Year 2!

English
This week, we began creating our own stories based on an eco-superhero theme. We designed some amazing eco-superheroes, including turtles, sharks and people, all with a variety of special eco-powers. Some heroes can control the wind or the sun, while others have the power to clean pollution from the oceans or remove rubbish from parks. We have carefully designed our heroes and planned our story ideas, and we are very excited to start writing our stories next week.

Maths
In Maths, we continued our learning about time. We recapped everything we learned before half term and then moved on to telling the time to five-minute intervals. We also learned how many minutes are in an hour, half an hour and a quarter of an hour. To support our learning, we made paper plate clocks to help us answer questions and practise telling the time. We also created a human clock, with some children representing the numbers 1–12 on the clock face and two children acting as the clock hands. Mrs D called out different times, and the hands had to point to the correct positions. We really enjoyed this activity and found it a fun and memorable way to learn.

RE
In RE, we continued our learning about Judaism. We were very lucky to welcome visitors into school who taught us all about Shabbat. They set up a Shabbat table and explained the traditions and customs associated with this special time. We were also fortunate enough to try challah bread and grape juice. We thoroughly enjoyed this experience and learned a great deal.

Geography
This week, we began our new topic about our local area. We explored the differences between cities, towns and villages, as well as rural and urban environments. We learned that Knowl Hill is a rural village. Using Google Earth, we explored our local area and the town of Maidenhead. We are looking forward to going on a local walk next week to discover even more about our surroundings.

Science
In Science, we started learning about the seasons and how we can identify that we are now in the season of summer. We discussed the changes we can see in nature and the weather during this time of year.

Year 6 Takeover Day
We finished our week with a really fun morning when Year 6 took over the school! The two Year 6 pupils acting as Headteachers led an enjoyable collective worship. Afterwards, we went outside to explore signs of summer around our school grounds and then took part in a lively game of Maths Bingo, practising our 2, 5 and 10 times tables.

We have had a wonderful week and are looking forward to more exciting learning next week!
