Year 2 Weekly Update
This Week in Class
This week has been full of exciting learning!
English:
We explored the book Stick Man and have begun writing our own books, retelling the story from Stick Man’s point of view as he journeys home. The children have been working hard to include adjectives and conjunctions in their writing, and we can’t wait to finish these wonderful stories next week.
Maths:
In maths, we continued our work on shapes by investigating 3D shapes and identifying the 2D faces they are made from. We also explored other key properties, including edges and vertices.
History:
We completed our topic on the Great Fire of London. The class were sad to finish as they have absolutely loved this topic and are eager to learn more—which is perfect, because next week we’ll be exploring it further through song in our music lessons!
Science:
We wrapped up our science topic on materials by investigating which materials would make the best waterproof coat for Little Red Riding Hood, helping her stay warm and dry in this rainy weather.
RE:
In RE, we continued learning about why Christmas is important to Christians and explored the meaning of the Christingle. We are really looking forward to sharing our learning with you during the church service on Friday.
PE:
In PE, we carried on with gymnastics, creating our own group routines using the rolls, balances, turns, and movements we’ve been practising over the past few weeks.
PE - Monday and Wednesday
