This Week in Class
This Week in Year 2
What a busy and exciting week we’ve had in Year 2!
In English, we finished our persuasive books all about the Big Bad Wolf. Our mission was to convince the judge that he should be sent to jail and not go unpunished! We also learnt about prefixes, focusing on the prefix ‘un–’, and had fun using it in our writing. The highlight of the week was definitely when Mrs D became the judge and we took on the roles of the police, presenting our cases to send the Big Bad Wolf to jail — it was so much fun!
In Maths, we continued to build our addition and subtraction skills. We learnt how to add and subtract tens, discovering that the ones stay the same and only the tens change. Everyone worked really hard and showed great understanding.
In Design and Technology, we carried on with our moving pictures project. After completing our designs, we have now painted our scenes and made our characters. Everything is ready for us to put together our final moving pictures next week — we can’t wait to see them come to life!
In RE, we explored how Christians believe it is their job to care for the world. We looked at different examples of people being caring — and some who were not — and discussed how we can all help to look after our world too.
In Science, we finished our learning about Autumn, talking about the celebrations that take place during these months. We’re really looking forward to joining in with some of these soon!
It’s been a fantastic week of learning, creativity, and fun — and we’re already excited for everything we’ll be doing next week!
